"We had to walk 20 miles in the snow...."

As "Week Without the Web" gets closer and closer; I have found it hilarious that every single one of my teachers has preached the significance and importance of it.

I remember hand writing assignments, calling people from my house land line, looking up spelling from a dictonary, looking up telephone numbers in a phone book and even using carbon paper to make double copies. These were all things I learned in grade school and still know how to do without a computer.

We REMEMBER what it was like- we were young, but we were there!

We have all had to hear the sob story that has now become an expression in our society. It went something like this.. "We had to walk 20 miles in the snow (sleet,hail,rain) all the way to school." It is something that our grandparents told our parents. They hated hearing it and now they are doing it to us! The tables have officially turned. Our generation has to deal with the new expression- "We had to do work without a computer..."

So, when you are in class and you are trying not to roll your eyes when your teacher starts talking about "Week Without the Web" -remember to just deal with it. One day we might just find ourselves telling the younger generation something similar.
